Transitioning Your Campus Fleet to Columbia Electric Vehicles

For every job on campus, there’s a Columbia Electric Vehicle built to support it! Read on for detailed insights on how transitioning to Columbia vehicles can transform your campus operations!

Columbia’s electric utility vehicles are essential tools for college and university campuses. These compact, zero-emissions vehicles are ideal for navigating the often narrow, winding paths typical of campus environments. With their speeds regulated at or below 25 mph and their excellent maneuverability, Columbia EVs provide a safe and controlled mode of transporting passengers and cargo in pedestrian-heavy environments!

Grounds Keeping, Utility, and Building Maintenance

Columbia EVs are excellent for transporting personnel for inspections, repairs, landscaping, and maintenance of campus buildings, whether the tasks are plumbing, electrical, or HVAC, the Columbia vehicles are up to the challenge!

The Columbia Payloader has a 76” cargo deck and carry capacity of 4,000 lbs, and is available with optional bed side rails, overhead ladder and equipment racks, or lockable van body with doors on each side to keep your tools and equipment safe and secure. The Payloader also has an optional dump bed, perfect for moving and placing mulch, gravel, trimmings or even hauling rubbish and recycling from events and residences. The Payloader can also tow up to 18,000 lbs for moving the heavy trailers, equipment, and dumpsters on campus.

Passengers, Security, Catering, and Event Support

Campuses are built for people: students and prospective students and their families, deans, guests, professors, security teams, catering teams, support staff, and many many others! When it comes to getting people where they need to go, Columbia has you covered!

Whether you need to move people and things, either all in one trip or with vehicles pulling double duty, the Columbia Payloader and Payloader PRO have versatile fold-down seating options to expand capacity from 2 to 4 passengers. Even in 4-passenger mode, the Payloader has over half the cargo deck still available for cargo!

The Columbia Journeyman has 2-, 4-, and 6-passenger options, and the Columbia Utilitruck has 2- and 4-passenger options. The 2- and 4- passenger vehicles have cargo beds up to 60” providing flexibility for passenger personal items, catering equipment, cones and EHS response materials, mail and packages, or anything else your people need to bring with them!

Street Legal, ADA, and Ambulance Needs

For urban campuses that require driving on city streets, Columbia offers the Journeyman and Utilitruck in LSV options which are street legal in all 50 states. Additionally, the Payloader can be configured as an ADA compliant transport vehicle for moving disabled passengers in their wheelchairs and/or with their other mobility aids. Both the Payloader and Utilitruck are available with ambulance packages to aid the speedy removal of injured players or event-goers from stadiums and auditoriums.
