The Summit Utilitruck is already a proven asset to any fleet, however, we wanted to make it even better! Columbia has enhanced the Summit Utilitruck with a centralized focus on higher safety standards, increased corrosion resistance, and a wider variety of customization options.
Safety Standards- The key aspects of a safer Summit Utilitruck are the braking system, suspension, and ease of maintenance. Columbias SmartBrake System allows for an automatic parking brake to engage and disengage when needed while operating the vehicle. The accelerator is now a self contained accelerator assembly. The suspension system now consists of larger ball joints for better vehicle balance while hauling materials. Columbia also introduced the single pan lift assist creating easier access to the battery. Each of these upgrades cut back on daily wear, the potential of operator error, and the frequency of maintenance needs.
Increased Corrosion Resistance- Columbia vehicles need to stand up to daily use, weather, and other work related conditions. In order to do this better, we now use stainless steel hardware in all of our Summit Utilitruck vehicles. Not only does this change in hardware give the Summit Utilitruck a more streamlined look, it also added stronger tested corrosion resistance to the life of the hardware.
Columbia also changed the chassis to a steel rail chassis. The steel chassis is stronger, gives more options for corrosion resistant coatings, and better housing for the vehicle wiring systems. The steering rod rack was inverted improving the durability of the steering system and decreased the turning radius of the vehicle.
Customization Options- Columbia does not make cookie cutter vehicles. Each Columbia vehicle is made specifically for your needs. So, when Columbia was enhancing the Summit Utilitruck, customization was a priority. Body panel replacement is now easier with optional body panels. The Summit Utilitruck now has 4 different bed lengths which can house a larger variety of cargo loading/hauling options including van enclosures, ladder racks, side rails, tool hauling, and many other configurations. The shortest bed length was increased by over 10%! The Summit Utility now offers independent bumper and receiver options for your towing needs. With the change to steel rail chassis a variety of different corrosion resistant options became available as well.
A stronger vehicle that lasts longer and helps you do your job more efficiently ultimately brings more value to your business. Columbia seeks to build products that add value to your business and the new Summit Utilitruck represents the latest inspired solution that moves our customers.
