Columbia Awarded Renewal Of The U.S. Communities Contract

Earlier this winter, members of Columbia along with representatives of the City of Kansas City and U.S. Communities renegotiated the contract held by Columbia. This extension of the contract included the addition of Columbias all new Journeyman Series. The Journeyman series is a versatile series of vehicles made to take on most daily tasks without the need for customization. The Journeyman series is built to handle everything from construction sites to shuttling people. The Journeyman joins Columbias already broad line of electric work vehicles to provide even more application-based vehicle solutions to U.S. Communities customers.

The contract extension is valid through January 1, 2019 and provides U. S. Communities member agencies continued access to all Columbia vehicles at pre-negotiated prices.

What Does This Mean For U.S. Communities Agencies?

They  have continued access to Columbias top-quality, American built electric vehicles without the hassle of the bidding process. Columbia provides a vast network of dealers for service and purchasing of Columbias vehicles. Columbia vehicles support both industrial and commercial customers including warehouses, colleges, housing authorities, resorts and more!

Some agencies that have purchased through the U.S. Communities contract include Penn State, Las Vegas Water, and the Housing Authority for the City of Los Angeles. Lilian Choy,

Special Programs Coordinator for the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles, had the following to say about their choice of Columbia vehicles to fulfill their needs; They meet HACLAs needs for transportation of maintenance staff and their tools and equipment from unit to unit at HACLA properties. Ms. Choy also commented that the vehicle durability and Columbias ability to help solve the need for replacement and new vehicles were also determining factors in choosing Columbia.

How Will This Impact Columbia Dealers?

With the support of Brian Wagoner, Columbias U.S. Communities Specialist, more and more Columbia dealers are being trained on the benefits of the program. There are over 55,000 agencies registered with U.S. Communites allowing for a network of prospective customers that otherwise would not have been available to dealers. This also provides an even playing field for our dealers when it comes to price negotiations with customers. Columbia is excited to bring this new avenue for customer outreach to their dealer network.
